This course is for adults who wish to gain a qualification in wall & floor tiling.
Units include:
- preparing tiles for fixing to wall and floor installations
- applying and fixing tiling materials
- setting out tiling components
- mixing tiling materials
- handling and storing tiling materials and accessories
- health, safety and welfare in construction
- principles of building construction, information and communication.
You will complete 30 hours of work placement within the industry. You will also have the opportunity to work on many live projects including volunteering with local employers and competing in the annual in-house tiling competition.
A minimum of four GCSEs at grade 2 or above, including English.
There are several end of unit in-class assessments and two online exams. You will log your learning in a diploma portfolio folder.
Attendance is normally three days a week and typically the hours are from 9am-4.30pm. A high level of attendance is necessary in order to successfully achieve the qualification.
You can progress on to a Level 2 Diploma in Wall & Floor Tiling, an apprenticeship or into employment.
