Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Practice

For anyone who wishes to explore the dynamic digital world of creative media, your creativity and flair will be harnessed in the design and production of media products used within the industry.

Units include:

  • research and communication skills
  • single and multi-camera filming and editing*
  • documentary, advertising and music video production for interactive media
  • script writing
  • radio production techniques.*

You will have the opportunity to go on external visits to media organisations, such as the BBC and the Warner Bros Studio, to meet industry professionals. You will also work on a variety of exciting live projects and short films for external clients.

Work experience is embedded within the course but you could be presenting live shows on JAMM Radio, producing film and media content and helping with marketing events and campaigns, as well as exhibiting your end-of-year show reel at an event designed to celebrate creative work from all areas of the College.

A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English.

The course is full time and you should expect to be in college up to four days a week.

You will learn in a variety of ways. There will be practical demonstrations, skills workshops and formal taught sessions. Assessment is by coursework portfolio. Your work will be graded as either pass, merit or distinction.

School Leavers under the age of 19 do not have to pay fees on any full time courses, though may have to pay for their second year if turning 19 during their studies. If you’re aged 19 or over you might qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. It’s easy to apply for and you won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £25,000. If you are studying a part-time course and you receive one of the following benefits, or you depend financially on someone who does, you may be entitled to have your tuition fees waived: Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support. You will, however, have to pay any awarding body/assessment fees (unless you are on a first full level 2 course). * If you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit or receive other allowances, you may be eligible to claim concessionary rates. If you are entitled to a fee concession you will be asked to provide proof of your entitlement. It is essential that you inform us if your entitlement changes at any time during your course.
