Please note

You must have an employer in place to support this apprenticeship before starting it. If you need help finding one, we can help.

To successfully complete the appenticeship, you will need both GCSE maths and English at grade 3 or above, or Functional Skills level 1. If necessary, these can be studied at College alongside your apprenticeship standard.

You will be required to attend College one day per week throughout the duration of your apprenticeship programme.

You will spend six hours of your apprenticeship working towards your off-the-job learning, which can consist of College attendance, homework/coursework, projects related to work, employer training, mentoring and coaching, plus a range of other tasks.

Throughout your apprenticeship you will build an online portfolio of onsite evidence which will be submitted to your teachers who will assess the work and  provide feedback.

It is important you take ownership of your learning by seeking oppportunities to gain new skills on the job with your employer. Learning at College will be delivered through a mixture of practical delivery and application in the workshops alongside theoretical knowledge, independent study and research.

Your final grade will be determined in the endpoint assessment, by a collective performance in these three areas:

  • online knowldge-based tests
  • skills test
  • professional discussion (to demonstrate that you can apply a broad range of knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the standard).

School Leavers under the age of 19 do not have to pay fees on any full time courses, though may have to pay for their second year if turning 19 during their studies. If you are studying a part-time course and you receive one of the following benefits, or you depend financially on someone who does, you may be entitled to have your tuition fees waived: Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support. You will, however, have to pay any awarding body/assessment fees (unless you are on a first full level 2 course). * If you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit or receive other allowances, you may be eligible to claim concessionary rates. If you are entitled to a fee concession you will be asked to provide proof of your entitlement. It is essential that you inform us if your entitlement changes at any time during your course.

You could progress to a higher level apprenticeship standard, such as Craft Painter and Decorator apprenticeship standard (Level 3) or progress into full-time work.
