Our pioneering E6 Personal Development Programme is a six-strand initiative made up of courses, training and experiences that focus on developing your soft skills in preparation for the world of work.
These opportunities will provide you with a pathway in readiness for securing a job, an apprenticeship or a place in higher education. You can even gain recognition for taking part in the programme through our Gold, Silver and Bronze Principal’s certification scheme, to mark your commitment and achievements.
Enterprise
A fun and interactive 12-week course for budding entrepreneurs run in partnership with specialist company Unloc. Working alongside expert mentors and other entrepreneurs, you will learn essential business knowledge, with the opportunity for additional mentoring through the Portsmouth Young Innovators Hub, a free co-working space for 16–25-year-olds to run their own businesses.
Employability and experience
A range of employability workshops focusing on key topics including application writing, interview skills and creating an online professional image. We will even help to find you work experience linked to your chosen pathway to enhance your career aspirations.
E-curriculum
We offer a variety of online courses for a range
of new skills to support you through college and beyond. You can work at your own pace, at home or in college, with access to one-to-one support. Certified courses range from money management to eating for the environment.
Extension
A wide range of extra curricula activities to develop new skills, make new friends and build your confidence. Programmes could include First Aid, Combined Cadet Force, the Unloc Leadership Academy, WorldSkills, Rock Choir, Dance Live and the Extended Project Qualification(EPQ).
Exercise
Take advantage of specialist training and represent the college in AoC competitions including football, athletics, boccia, basketball or badminton. Or work on your fitness and develop your team- building skills by taking part in ‘You Can’ activities like 5-a-side football or personal training.
Explore
Get involved in local and worldwide communities, make memories for life and gain valuable experiences as well as transferable skills through opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, organised volunteering opportunities or Adventures for Students.
