City of Portsmouth College's one-day Legionella Risk Assessment and water systems disinfection for mechanical services training and assessment course will help you protect public health and advance your career in water safety.
It is designed to meet the requirements of the revised Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) and Guidance: Legionnaire's disease: The control of Legionella bacteria in water systems, and the technical guidance HSG274 Part 2: The control of Legionella in hot and cold water systems (HSG274).
The disinfection of cold water systems is work that can be carried out by competent plumbing operatives with the aim to ensure operatives have the knowledge and skills to undertake the disinfection process.
Trainees must hold a recognised trade qualification in plumbing and heating. A working knowledge of central heating, hot and cold water systems is essential. As well as holding Water Regulations or Water Bylelaws.
The course is for experienced plumbing and heating operatives.
Duration:
- One day.
Assessments consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations.
This course provides a gateway to specialist roles in water safety and compliance. After completing this qualification, you can progress to advanced training in water system management, Legionella control strategies, and disinfection techniques.
It also opens opportunities to work in facilities management, environmental health, and building compliance, or to become a designated Responsible Person for Legionella control under current regulations.
