City of Portsmouth College's REGT1 Medium Pressure Regulators course is designed for gas engineers looking to expand their metering skills and career opportunities.
You'll learn:
- the gas connection, regulator and connection to the meter - inspect the pipework and material type, check that connections are secure, leak-free and comply with local gas regulations
- securing the regulators and controls correctly - regulators and control valves should be mounted firmly to prevent vibration or movement, and use appropriate brackets, supports, and fasteners to avoid strain on pipework
- tightness testing - perform a pressure test on the system to confirm there are no leaks, use approved methods (e.g. manometer or electronic leak detector)
- labelling and recording installation details - attach clear labels for identification (e.g. gas type, pressure settings, emergency shut-off). You will record installation details in logs or digital systems for future reference.
Candidates who want to join this course must hold one of the following:
- Core Domestic Gas Safety – (CCN1)
- Domestic Gas Meters – (MET 1 or 2)
- Specific Core for Meter Installers – (Natural Gas CMA1)
- Install Domestic Gas Meters – (MET3LS).
This is a one-day course covering both training and assessment.
You will be assessed by a multiple choice theory paper, and a practical assessment.
With this qualification, you'll be able to build on your metering skills and career opportunities, opening doors to a wider range of gas metering work in the industry.
