Need to know about water regulations and bylaws for your work? This City of Portsmouth College course is the perfect fit.

This course covers all aspects of water regulations, including:

  • water fittings – components like taps, valves, pipes, and connectors
  • system design and installation – planning and setting up the layout of pipes, fittings, and equipment
  • prevention of cross contamination – measures to stop dirty or non-potable water from mixing with clean drinking water
  • backflow prevention – methods that prevent water from flowing backward into the clean water supply
  • hot and cold water services – systems that deliver heated water for washing and cold water for drinking or general use
  • water for use outside a property – supply points like garden taps or irrigation systems designed for outdoor water use.

If you would like to undertake this course, you must hold one of the following:

  • hold a Water Regulations or Unvented Hot Water qualification
  • have an NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent qualification
  • be registered with an industry scheme (e.g. Gas Safe, OFTEC, or similar)
  • have at least two years' experience installing domestic heating and hot water systems
  • have at least two years' prior experience designing or advising on domestic hearing and hot water systems.

This course is a one-day training course including your assessment.

You'll be assessed via a multiple choice theory paper.

On completion, you'll have a solid understanding of water regulations to ensure all installations comply with current standards, and receive a BPEC Certificate of Competence, valid for five years.

If you do not have an Unvented Hot Water qualification, you are encouraged to complete this additional certification.

Fees for this course must be paid in full.
