Need to know about water regulations and bylaws for your work? This City of Portsmouth College course is the perfect fit.
This course covers all aspects of water regulations, including:
- water fittings – components like taps, valves, pipes, and connectors
- system design and installation – planning and setting up the layout of pipes, fittings, and equipment
- prevention of cross contamination – measures to stop dirty or non-potable water from mixing with clean drinking water
- backflow prevention – methods that prevent water from flowing backward into the clean water supply
- hot and cold water services – systems that deliver heated water for washing and cold water for drinking or general use
- water for use outside a property – supply points like garden taps or irrigation systems designed for outdoor water use.
If you would like to undertake this course, you must hold one of the following:
- hold a Water Regulations or Unvented Hot Water qualification
- have an NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent qualification
- be registered with an industry scheme (e.g. Gas Safe, OFTEC, or similar)
- have at least two years' experience installing domestic heating and hot water systems
- have at least two years' prior experience designing or advising on domestic hearing and hot water systems.
This course is a one-day training course including your assessment.
You'll be assessed via a multiple choice theory paper.
On completion, you'll have a solid understanding of water regulations to ensure all installations comply with current standards, and receive a BPEC Certificate of Competence, valid for five years.
If you do not have an Unvented Hot Water qualification, you are encouraged to complete this additional certification.
