Painting and Drawing for Beginners

This course is for anyone interested in learning the basics of painting with acrylics, an easy to use medium. Topics will include still life, portrait and landscape painting.

In this painting class you will learn the skills needed to paint captivating landscapes, still lives and portraits with detail and depth. We will explore painting in monochrome tones and in the full colour spectrum. There is some drawing for composition involved at the beginning of this process. We start with still life studies by becoming familiar with colour mixing and handling of the painting tools. In the landscape projects painting techniques, such as wet in wet, dry brush and glazing will be fully explored. For the portraits the grid technique for enlarging images will be used. The efficient use of brushes, palette knives and other tools for creating rich textures and interesting effects will be going on throughout the course.
