This programme is aimed at 16-25 year olds who are unemployed and lacking in qualifications or confidence, it’s a great opportunity to develop your existing skills and gain new ones. Even better, it’s free of charge and doesn’t affect any benefits. City of Portsmouth College is also the first provider in the country to offer one extra-special team programme, especially designed for young people with a learning difficulty or disability:
- Week 1 – Come and meet new people and get to know your team! Your team will be up to 12 people. You will be introduced to what the 12 weeks will be all about and this gives you an opportunity to start planning for your weeks ahead, setting out what you want to achieve.
- Week 2 – Step out of your comfort zone and join us on a 4-day action packed adventure, this could include High ropes, Canoeing, Climbing & Raft Building. Spend time away in your teams & learn new skills.
- Week 3/4/5 – Plan and complete a community project! Work together to create a new project that will benefit your local community.
- Week 6 – Take the time to sit and prepare for your upcoming work placements.
- Week 7/8 – With the skills you have developed over the last few weeks, week 7 & 8 gives you the opportunity to be involved in a work placement, this is a good chance to try out a type of work to see whether you like it!
- Week 9 – Next steps will be support with writing a CV and gain some interview techniques.
- Week 10/11 – Team Challenge helping in the community, this will be another great chance to test out all your new skills that you have developed over the past weeks.
- Week 12 – To reflect over the past 12 weeks & you will be invited to a presentation to bring everyone together to celebrate everyone’s achievements.
You will also get the opportunity to develop your maths and english skills.
Once the 12 weeks have been completed you will gain a nationally recognised qualification!
It is aimed at 16-25 year olds, school leavers can also join!
Seven out of 10 young people supported by King's Trust move on to education, training or employment.

Local election candidates grilled at COPC hustings
City of Portsmouth College students had the chance to get involved in local politics and grill candidates for the forthcoming local elections, at a hustings event hosted at Sixth Form Campus.
