During the course students will study the basics and intermediate levels of French grammar. Themes and topics will come from French news media designed for less experienced native speakers French and other events happening in the Francophone world. Depending on the time of year, we will also look at French culture and cultural events that happen in France at relevant times.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Hold transactional conversations in French about various topics covered during the course and write some basic information and instructions.
- Understand most general things said to them in conversations and transactions while being able to understand most written instructions.
- Understand some aspects of the way the French conduct their daily lives and some facets of French culture.
This course is for anyone who has studied some French before (approx. 20 hours tuition) and wishes to improve on their basic knowledge.
This course is scheduled for 1.5 hours per week, Tuesdays 7.30-9pm (term time only). All students are expected to attend all of their timetabled sessions on time, unless prior arrangement has been made and agreed with their tutor.
If a student arrives more than 10 minutes late for class, they may be asked to leave. If a student is absent for three consecutive weeks without notice they will automatically be withdrawn from the course.
While you will not receive a formal qualification, this fun and informative course will help expand and practise your skills in French.
You could progress on to French for Advanced Improvers.
