It was a huge day of celebration for City of Portsmouth College last week, as its higher education adult learners – including 17 members of COPC staff – graduated at Portsmouth Cathedral.
Friends, family and fellow colleagues cheered as a total of 26 graduates collected their certificates, and afterwards marked the occasion with official photos, refreshments and cake.
At the ceremony, Principal and CEO Katy Quinn said: “We believe everyone has the potential to be brilliant. That with hard work and determination, anyone’s dreams and goals can be realised. Today, your dreams and goals are coming true!
“The certificate you’ll receive up on this stage is not just a qualification. It’s a long-term investment, which will reap well-deserved rewards as you take your expertise and knowledge into the future, whatever that may look like.
“Your success is a huge testament to your resilience. You are the living proof that anything is possible, and I congratulate you for never giving up, always showing up, and proving that you CAN.”
Professor Anne Murphy, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at University of Portsmouth, and governor for the College, said: “Education is not just about the content we absorb and remember, it’s about gaining the skills to learn, relearn and unlearn for the benefit of our future selves. Knowing that you know how to learn will take you far and will help you adapt for the future and continue to advance your career.”
