Winners of the 2025 Sixth Form Awards gather on stage for a group photo

Hard work, exceptional results, team spirit, going the extra mile, and leading by example are all attributes of the winners of this year's City of Portsmouth College Sixth Form Awards.

More than 70 students collected awards at the event, which took place on the penultimate day of term at Sixth Form Campus, in front of family, friends and peers.

There were speeches from Principal and CEO Katy Quinn, guest speaker Clare Martin, CEO of Portsmouth In the Community, and two musical performances by Performing Arts students.

Katy Quinn said: “At City of Portsmouth College, we believe brilliant learning is the key to unlocking potential. We delight in seeing our students flourish. Our expert lecturers seek out and nurture everyone’s unique talents so they can get the best out of their College experience. You might have seen our new advert, which is showing on selected Sky TV channels, that highlights how our students are just getting started.

“Tonight, we know our winners are doing the same. Just getting started on a pathway to brilliance, to beginning a new adventure and discovering just where their potential can take them.”

But it wasn't just the awards that were the draw for the former students. It was the teachers.

Andreea Robu, now studying Law at King's College, won the prize for Exceptional Contribution to the Humanities Department. She said: "I missed my teachers so much – I really hope they're here today as I want to see them again."

Leila Dixon, who won an award for Outstanding Achievement in A Level English Literature and is now studying Ancient History at Newcastle University, said: "All my teachers were wonderful and so supportive. If you ever needed anything, they were there for us."

The Principal’s Award for Emerging Leadership went to Lizzie Genevieve Edwards for her outstanding work helping lead COPC to third place – and win Best Costumes – at Dance Live, while Dina Broughton won the Principal’s Award for Perseverance and Resilience.

The Principal’s Award for Citizenship went to James Piper, for his outstanding commitment to supporting his peers across music performance and being an exemplary representative of the College. James, who is now studying Jazz Performance at Chichester University, wants to go into teaching as a career. "I'm following my Lecturer here, Gareth Howells, very closely! He showed me that music teaching can be so fun."
