After the first year you will achieve a BTEC National Foundation Diploma in Sport, equivalent to one and a half A Levels. Then, after you finished the second year, you'll gain the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development, the equivalent of three A Levels.
Five grade 4s at GCSE, including maths and English language.
Lessons will run between 9.00am and 5.00pm daily. You will also have a tutorial session added to your timetable. It is an expectation that students on this course are involved in the College sports teams where possible.
You will be assessed through practical and theory assessments within a range of sport topics.
Examples of units include:
- sports development
- applying coaching skills
- anatomy and physiology
- technicial and tactical and many more.
On completion of this course, you can progress to higher education, a degree-level course or an apprenticeship/job in the sporting sector. The course is diverse enough to develop you towards careers in coaching, teaching, sports psychology, sports therapy, sports science or nutrition.
