Prepare to work in the construction industry with this Level 2 apprenticeship. This qualification covers health & safety legislation, codes of practice and safe working practices. These include working at heights, principles of building construction, information and communication, suspended ceiling systems, partitions, wall linings and encasement systems as well as the direct bond method, taping and jointing, specialist systems for dry lining and interiors, and applying finishing plaster.
Maths and English at grade 2 or Functional Skills Level 1. These can be studied alongside your apprenticeship.
You will be required to attend College one day per week throughout the duration of the apprenticeship programme.
All College attendance, homework/coursework, project related work, employer training, mentoring and coaching – plus a number of other tasks can all be allocated towards your off-the-job learning hours of your apprenticeship programme.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will need to gather work-based evidence and submit this work to your online portfolio, which will then be assessed by your teacher and feedback given. It is important for you to take ownership of gathering this evidence and seeking out opportunities to gain new skills on the job with your new employer.
Learning in College will be delivered through a mixture of practical delivery and application and theoretical knowledge which will help to build your knowledge, skills and behaviours. You will also need to complete independent study and research.
Your final grade will be determined at end point assessment, by a collective performance in the three areas below:
- online knowledge tests
- skills test (practical assessment tasks)
- professional discussion (to demonstrate that you can apply the broad range of knowledge, skills and behaviours in the standard).
Full time employment for a dry lining, building or property development company, or progress to other Level 2 and 3 qualifications in the sector.
