Interested in plastering but you have no formal training? During this apprenticeship, you will learn many practical plastering skills. As well as technical abilities, you will develop the functional and personal skills required to be succesful in your career.
You’ll learn about health and safety hazards,regulations and legislation, codes of practice, customer service, construction methods, insulation, facilities, fire protection, damp proofing, considerations before completing plastering work, dry lining, mortars and render systems.
Maths and English grade 2 or Functional Skills Level 1. These can be studied alongside your apprenticeship.
You will be required to attend College one day per week throughout the duration of the apprenticeship programme.
All College attendance, homework/coursework, project related work, employer training, mentoring and coaching-plus a number of other tasks can contribute to your off-the-job learning hours required for your apprenticeship programme.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will need to gather work-based evidence and submit work to your online portfolio which will then be assessed by your teacher and feedback given. It is important for you to take ownership of gathering this evidence and seeking out opportunities to gain new skills on the job with your employer. Learning in College will be delivered through a mixture of practical delivery and application and theoretical knowledge which will help to build your knowledge, skills and behaviours. You will also need to complete independent study and research.
Your final grade will be determined at end point assessment, by a collective performance in the three areas below:
- online knowledge test
- skills test (practical assessment tasks)
- professional discussion (to demonstrate that you can apply the broad range of knowledge, skills and behaviours in the standard).
Higher level full-time courses or employment.
