Girl Guides from across the Hampshire East region were given a glimpse into the future at a World Thinking Day event at Portsmouth Grammar School.

Members of the City of Portsmouth College team were on hand to support the cross-college initiative which focuses on attracting more school leavers to take up careers in the clean maritime, logistics, creative, health & social care industries.

Technology on show included augmented and virtual reality, 3D printing, an AI powered robot, piloting a ship, a music production desk and coding Sphero Bolt robot balls.

Units from Portsmouth, Fareham, Porchester, Emsworth and Liphook visited the truck, with around 120 girl guides enjoying interactive workshops throughout the day.

“We had an amazing time,” said one of the leaders from 1st Emsworth Guides. “The augmented reality was fascinating, and we were completely engrossed in all the hands-on activities. It was a fun and inspiring experience that sparked our curiosity about technology.”

Said one of the Girl Guide attendees: “I thought the event was fun and it was great to see so many other girl guides. I found all the technology very interesting, especially the Sphero Bolt coding robot balls!”
