COPC’s ESOL Team Wins Community Team Award at Teach Portsmouth Awards

We’re excited to share that our very own ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Team brought home the “Community Team Award” at last night’s Teach Portsmouth Awards, held at The Portsmouth Guildhall.

The event recognised and celebrated staff from local colleges and schools, with winners announced across 12 different categories, including Early Career Teacher, Community, Inclusion & Diversity, Innovation, People’s Choice, and more.

Our ESOL Team, based at the Arundel Campus, proudly accepted the Community Team Award - an honour given to those who work together to make a real difference in their school or college community.

During the ceremony, the team was praised for creating a safe, friendly and non-judgemental space where students can build confidence, make friends and learn about each other’s cultures, and helping students thrive in the local community.

And the good news didn’t stop there! Samantha Gott, Foundation Prospects Lecturer, was shortlisted to sixth place (out of 110 nominees!) for the “People’s Choice Award.” This award is especially meaningful, as it’s voted for by the public in recognition of college or school staff who go the extra mile to support their students.

We’re incredibly proud of the ESOL Team and Samantha for their passion, dedication, and all they do for our College and our students. We’re so pleased to see them get the recognition they truly deserve!
