This course will develop your knowledge and understanding in order to care for children and young people. This will provide you with basic knowledge of childcare, development, play and babysitting and will allow you to make informed decisions when caring for children and young people.
Units may include:
- safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
- introductory awareness of sensory loss
- understand how play forms part of a child’s development
- use food and nutrition information to plan a healthy diet
- craft activities with young children.
Students are expected to have at least a Level 1 qualification in English, which will be assessed before starting the course.
This qualification is online only so you can study it at your own pace in your own workspace.
This is a distance learning course, with 108 guided hours. Assessment must meet the requirements of the identified assessment strategy/principles. All learning outcomes must be met to achieve a pass.
After successfully finishing this course, you could go on to study:
- Level 2 Diploma in Care
- Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce
- Level 2 Award in Introduction to Health, Social Care and Children and Young People’s Settings
- Level 3 Diploma for the Children and young People’s Workforce.
