TQUK Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
If you are an experienced assessor who wishes to progress to internal quality assurance roles within education and training, then this course, taught at City of Portsmouth College, is designed for you.
On this course, you will gain the knowledge and skills required to plan, carry out, and evaluate internal quality assurance activities. It supports professional development and enhances the credibility and effectiveness of assessment practices across a range of sectors. Successful completion can lead to roles such as Internal Quality Assurer (IQA), Lead IQA, or Quality Manager.
You should ideally have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy and numeracy (or equivalent).
The IQA trainee needs to be monitoring a minimum of two assessors, each with a minimum of two trainees of their own, through components of a qualification.
The recommended minimum age for this qualification is 19 years and over.
The course requires 90 guided learning hours, the course is designed to be flexible and accessible.
Online or Distance Learning for the theory unit: You will complete this part of the course remotely via a virtual learning environment, allowing study at your own pace.
Practical Module: You’ll need to complete practical IQA activities. These can be done at your workplace, if you have access to assessment activities and a qualified IQA to act as an expert witness or at City of Portsmouth College.
This qualification is assessed through a blend of practical and written tasks designed to reflect real-world internal quality assurance responsibilities. You will complete:
- Written assignments to demonstrate understanding of IQA principles and practices.
- Sampling plans and reports to show how assessment decisions are monitored and evaluated.
- Participation in standardisation meetings, highlighting collaborative quality assurance.
- Reflective accounts or observations to evidence the application of IQA techniques in practice.
These assessments ensure you can confidently apply your skills in a professional setting.
By completing this qualification, you can:
- Progress into Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) roles across various sectors, including education, training, and workplace learning.
- Advance to senior quality assurance positions, such as Lead IQA or Quality Manager.
- Move into external quality assurance, with progression routes like the Level 4 Award in Externally Assuring the Quality of Assessment Processes and Practice (RQF).
- Continue professional development through qualifications such as the Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development (RQF).
