The Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering is a comprehensive, work-related qualification designed to prepare learners for a career in the modern engineering and manufacturing industries. This course provides a strong foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of advanced manufacturing, combining academic study with hands-on experience using industry-standard tools, equipment, and software.

Learners will explore a wide range of topics including:

  • Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM)
  • engineering principles and mathematics
  • materials science and mechanical systems
  • health and safety in engineering environments
  • project management and quality assurance.

Throughout the course, students will develop essential skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork, while gaining experience with real-world engineering scenarios. The qualification is designed in collaboration with industry to ensure relevance and progression, making it ideal for those aiming to move into apprenticeships, higher education, or directly into employment in sectors such as aerospace, automotive, energy, and precision engineering.

The Extended Diploma is equivalent to three A Levels and is typically completed over two years. It provides a clear pathway to university-level engineering courses or higher apprenticeships in advanced manufacturing and related fields.
