This course is perfect if you have completed the Level 2 Diploma and wish to take the next step to becoming a qualified electrician.
Units include:
- health and safety
- fundamental principles and requirements of environmental technology systems
- principles of electrical science
- fault diagnosis and rectification
- inspection, testing and commissioning
- electrical systems design
- career awareness.
You will complete 30 hours of work experience within the industry, have the opportunity to take part in college-based projects and be encouraged and supported to take part in both local and national competitions. Trips to trade shows, manufacturers and visits from industry specialists are also included in the course.
You will need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including maths, English and science, plus a Level 2 electrical qualification.
This is a one-year course and typically you will be in College for at least two full days per week.
You will learn in our well-equipped workshop, backed up by classroom sessions which will help to underpin your knowledge of the subject. There will be online exams and practical assessments.
A number of short courses are available at the College to further develop your skills before progressing into employment or an apprenticeship.
