For those aged 16-19 with English as a second language who wish to progress on to a vocational programme or an adult ESOL course. Resolve is a preparation course that aims to engage and assist students to develop the essential attitude and English language skills needed to continue at College.
Units include:
- ESOL Skills for Life qualification in reading, writing, speaking and listening
- Functional Skills or GCSE in maths
- community based projects
- living in the UK
You will have the opportunity to attend enrichment sessions and take part in vocationally based projects. You will also contribute to the planning and delivery of fundraising events, enjoy regular professional visits and take part in community projects, giving you the extra skills and knowledge needed in your chosen field.
No formal entry requirements are required, although realistic learning targets would need to be agreed.
100% attendance is expected for the duration of the course. Continued non-attendance may result in the overall qualification not being achieved and losing your place on the course.
This course combines both theory and practical sessions and you will be assessed in a variety of ways (activity, group work, photographic and video) which will be presented through a portfolio of evidence.
All our courses are planned around your individual learning needs, with a timetable that clearly identifies the sessions that will be taught. You will be assigned a Programme Lead who will support you throughout your time in College. Teaching staff will work closely with you to help you achieve planned learning goals.
You can progress onto a higher level Resolve course or a vocational course within the College.
