City of Portsmouth College’s fantastic students have been crowned national champions at the Association of Colleges’ 46th National Championships in Nottingham.

The College’s Boccia team – comprising Nicholas Labrow, Adam Cook and Kaydon Forder – won gold, beating off challenges from Heart of Birmingham College, Nottingham College, The College of West Anglia and Blackburn College. It’s the third time in five years COPC has taken the crown.

For Kaydon, it wasn’t his only triumph!

He was part of our Pan-Ability Football team, with teammates Louie Cake, Aiden Wheeler, Muhammed Chum, Leo Harley, Ethan Bower, Woody Rose, Archie Clark, Nicholas Labrow and Ralphy Watson, which won a first-ever bronze in the eight-team competition, winning six games, drawing one and narrowly losing one.

Meanwhile, in the women’s endurance race, Florrie Roche achieved a PB time, helping the South East region finish an impressive sixth out of 18 teams.

As COPC was part of the South East region, our results helped it take first overall as well, finishing five points clear of the East Midlands.

Andrew Greensmith, Curriculum Manager for Foundation Prospects, said: “Huge congratulations to all our students on their outstanding performances at the AoC National Championships in Nottingham. Your talent, teamwork and determination continue to inspire us all – we couldn’t be prouder.”
