Students at City of Portsmouth College are celebrating another exceptional year of achievement, with a 95 per cent Level 3 pass rate maintained across the College.
And, reflective of the overall growth of the College, there has been a significant 27 per cent increase in the number of results issued.
The results represent another strong year for students across the College, with 58 academic and vocational courses achieving an outstanding 100 per cent pass rate, spanning a diverse range of subjects and disciplines.
Vocational subjects achieving 100 per cent pass rates included Music Performance, Art & Design, Plumbing, IT, and T-Level Business Management and Administration, highlighting the breadth of high-quality technical and creative education available to students at City of Portsmouth College.
Academic achievement was also particularly strong, with more than half of students achieving A*-B grades in several subjects including Further Maths, Media Studies, Sociology, Film and Animation, and Philosophy, Religion and Ethics.
The strong results are translating into exciting opportunities for students as they take their next steps beyond College. To date, 311 students have secured places at their first-choice universities, including Russell Group places at Southampton, Manchester, Bristol and Durham. Other students have secured prestigious degree and higher apprenticeships with leading employers across the UK.
Deputy CEO and Deputy Principal, Matt Phelps, said: "We are incredibly proud of our students and the results they have achieved this year. Maintaining a 95 per cent Level 3 pass rate while increasing the number of results issued by 27 per cent is a fantastic achievement and reflects the ambition, resilience and hard work of our students, alongside the outstanding teaching and support provided by our staff.
“What makes these results particularly exciting is seeing the opportunities they are creating for our students. Whether progressing to university, securing an apprenticeship, entering employment or continuing their technical education, our students are taking their next steps with confidence and ambition.
“These results demonstrate the continued strength of City of Portsmouth College and our commitment to unlocking the potential of young people across Portsmouth and the wider region."
CEO and Principal, Katy Quinn, added: “Education is transformational, it opens new doors of opportunity and gives people choices for their next steps and future. I am proud of the inclusiveness of COPC, the breadth of our provision and the role we play in enabling young people, and adults, to learn and develop.
“I would like to congratulate every student receiving their results today. They should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved, and we wish them every success as they begin the next chapter of their journey."
Among the students celebrating today is Harris Haque, who has secured a place at the London School of Economics to study Economics – after achieving A* in Maths and Further Maths, and an A in Economics.
"I’m really happy. I've been waiting for today for a long time and it’s a real mix of happiness and relief,” said Harris. “I’m hoping to get a career in the finance industry, it’ll be amazing to be in an environment with high stakes and high reward.”
“I really enjoyed my time at City of Portsmouth College. The courses were really varied and show how much you can do within what on face value looks like quite a narrow subject.”
The College is now looking forward to welcoming new and returning students in September as they begin the next stage of their education, training and career journeys.
