Students and staff - some in their traditional dress - pose for COPC's Culture Day 2026

City of Portsmouth College celebrated the many different cultures that make up its college community last week with a day of fun activities, fabulous dress and fantastic food.

Students and staff proudly represented their respective cultures, with dozens of nationalities represented, from across the UK and from Afghanistan through to Zimbabwe!

Everyone was encouraged to wear traditional dress and showcase cultural signatures through information stands. There was also a dance and poetry performance by Portsmouth University Afro Fusion, henna painting and a cultural food showcase, with all proceeds going to the Rural Refugee Network.

Organiser Emily Osborn, an enrichment officer at COPC, said: “Culture Day was a truly inspiring celebration of our community. It was amazing to see people from so many different nationalities come together, share their traditions, and embrace one another’s cultures. The energy, pride, and unity on display made the day not only memorable but a powerful reminder of the strength we find in diversity.”

Countries represented included Afghanistan, Albania, Australia, Bangladesh, Bermuda, Brazil, China, Egypt, England, Fiji, Germany, Ghana, India, Iraq, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kurdistan, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Phillippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Scotland, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, United States of America, Vietnam, Wales and Zimbabwe.
