City of Portsmouth College helps shape new careers resource for students
PUBLISHED 09-10-2026

City of Portsmouth College has contributed to the development of a new online learning resource, created collaboratively with education providers and partners across the region, designed to help young people explore future career opportunities and make informed decisions about their next steps.
COPC has contributed specialist content to My Careers, where students can get valuable insight into a wide range of industries, career pathways and employment opportunities – and the skills, qualifications and experience they may need to succeed.
What makes the platform particularly valuable is its focus on sectors that represent significant growth opportunities both within the Solent region and across the wider UK economy. These industries have been identified as key priorities for economic development and include areas where employers are actively seeking skilled, qualified individuals.
David Lycett, Assistant Principal, said: “We are delighted to have worked alongside other colleges and partners to develop content for My Careers. Helping young people understand the opportunities available to them is a vital part of our role as an education provider. The platform showcases a range of exciting careers in sectors that are growing both locally and nationally, giving students the information and inspiration they need to make confident decisions about their future.”
The project reflects the College's commitment to preparing students not only for academic success, but also for successful and rewarding careers. By working collaboratively with education partners, the College continues to strengthen links between learning and employment, ensuring students develop the knowledge and skills that employers need.
