Parent Support for SEND Students

The College can offer support for those parents trying to get an EHCP for their child.

  • we regularly hold coffee mornings for parents of our SEND students
  • parents will be assigned a member of staff who will be their first point of contact
  • parents will receive regular progress reviews.

Assistive Technology

Our broad range of assistive technology includes adapting computers to include alternative keyboards, mice, monitors, and height adjustable desks. Using equipment such as dictaphones, flip cameras, and touchpad technology are also regular additions to the learning process.

Software like Read&Write Gold, ZoomText Magnifier and Reader and other mobile apps improve access to web, computer, and smart technology- based resources, broadening access to information and helping address barriers to literacy.

Specialist training in assistive technology helps users understand each item’s purpose and function. It also provides guidance in context with their learning aims. This helps the user be creative in their learning, reducing barriers to literacy and promoting study inclusion.

In addition, we also adapt classroom resources by using larger fonts and coloured paper.

Learning Support for Adults and Apprentices

Adult students and apprentices who require additional learning support will be invited along for an identification of support needs interview, to enable us to put in place the required level of support needed.

Additional support can be offered for all our adult students including students studying an online course of study.
