These skills are valued by employers and further education and are a platform on which to build other employability skills. Better functional skills can mean a better future - as learners or as employees and in everyday life.
It will develop vocational awareness and independence skills. You will have the chance to experience real life situations to develop confidence and skills which are transferrable throughout your life.
No formal entry requirements are required, though realistic learning targets would need to be agreed.
You will learn the skills you need to live with increased independence, such as setting targets to help you achieve, budgeting your money, healthy eating, personal safety, using public transport and looking after yourself. You will also develop the skills and knowledge that will help you identify suitable work opportunities for the future, like timekeeping, following instructions, working independently, team working and problem solving.
