Lifeskills Bridge at City of Portsmouth College is designed for learners working at pre-entry level, particularly those with severe learning difficulties and disabilities. If you are ready, the course also provides opportunities for progression.
The programme is tailored to your individual starting point, needs, and personal targets, ensuring a personalised learning experience that supports your development and independence.
The course includes:
- personal development
- accessing the community
- health and hygiene
- tutorials
- target setting.
The majority of students will progress from Lifeskills Aspire, however if you are a new student, you can still apply directly to Lifeskills Bridge. You should be able to complete tasks with support, make simple choices independently, and engage in group activities, enrichment opportunities, and supported community visits. You will follow college and classroom expectations with support, communicate appropriately with staff and peers. You are also expected to maintain attendance above 90% on a full timetable.
The course is run across three and a half days per week and the minimum expected attendance is 90%.
You will be assessed through a variety of ways (activity, group work, photographic and video), which will be presented through a portfolio of evidence.
All of our programmes are planned around your individual learning needs, with a timetable that clearly identifies the sessions that will be taught. You will be assigned a Programme Lead who will support you throughout your time in College. Teaching, coaching and learning support staff will work closely with you and your parents/carers to help you achieve planned learning goals.
The majority of students progress to Lifeskills Challenge, Lifeskills Drive or SAIL Entry 1. There are other entry courses that may suit the invdividual.
