Level 3 T Level Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction

For young people looking to begin a career in construction and the built environment industry, T Levels are a high-quality, work-focused alternative to A Levels, offering new routes to employment, apprenticeships or further learning.

Units include:

  • Surveying
  • Building technology
  • Digital technology
  • Design
  • Construction & built environment industry
  • Sustainability
  • Science
  • Health & safety

This T Level will allow you to develop your knowledge and understanding in a broad range of design, surveying and planning for construction disciplines. It will include an industry placement, with a chance to apply your skills and knowledge in a real-life workplace environment.

A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths or a Transition to Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction qualification.

To give you the best possible chance of successfully completing your qualification, 100% attendance is expected for the duration of the course. English, maths, work experience, tutorials and employability sessions all form part of the overall qualification and non-attendance to any of these sessions may result in the overall qualification not being achieved. Continued non-attendance to any timetabled sessions may result in losing your place on the course.

This course combines theory and practical sessions, and you will be assessed in various ways (exams, activity, group work, workshops, photographic, video, coaching and mentorship) with an employer-set project.

All our courses are planned around your individual learning needs, with a timetable that develops the core knowledge that underpins each industry and occupationally specific skills that will allow you to enter skilled employment within a specific occupation. Our teaching timetable will further develop your English, Maths, Digital and Employable skills to enable you to reach threshold competence in your occupational specialism, thus building your confidence.

You will be assigned a programme team to support you throughout your learning in college. Our modern learning centres have current resources to help you achieve positive outcomes.

School Leavers under the age of 19 do not have to pay fees on any full time courses, though may have to pay for their second year if turning 19 during their studies. If you’re aged 19 or over you might qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan. It’s easy to apply for and you won’t have to pay anything back until you’re earning over £25,000. If you are studying a part-time course and you receive one of the following benefits, or you depend financially on someone who does, you may be entitled to have your tuition fees waived: Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support. You will, however, have to pay any awarding body/assessment fees (unless you are on a first full level 2 course). * If you are in receipt of Working Tax Credit or receive other allowances, you may be eligible to claim concessionary rates. If you are entitled to a fee concession you will be asked to provide proof of your entitlement. It is essential that you inform us if your entitlement changes at any time during your course.

You could progress to a degree, an apprenticeship, or into employment.
