For those aged 16-19 who have a general interest in art and design and wish to develop their maths and English levels to access higher vocationally related courses.
Teaching, coaching and learning support staff will work closely with you and your parents/carers to help you achieve planned learning goals. Our staff are experienced at delivering classes to meet your needs and will work with you to build your confidence and skills.
There are no formal entry requirements, although a keen interest in art and design combined with a desire to improve your maths and English levels is essential. Acceptance on to this course is subject to interview and initial assessment processes.
100% attendance is expected for the duration of the programme. Maths, English, work experience and tutorials all form part of the overall qualification and non-attendance to any of these sessions may result in the overall qualification not being achieved. Continued non-attendance to any timetabled sessions may result in losing your place on the programme.
While on the programme you will develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes that you will need to progress into positive destinations. You will be assessed through a variety of ways (activity, group work, photographic and video) which will be presented through a portfolio of evidence. As a student on the Study Programme, you will have weekly tutorials and receive regular feedback to discuss your progress. All our programmes are planned around your individual learning needs, with every student having a timetable that clearly identifies the sessions that will be taught. You will be assigned a tutor who will support you throughout your time in College. Teaching staff will work closely with you to help you achieve planned learning goals. Our staff are experienced at delivering classes to meet your needs and will work with you to build your confidence and skills. Our Highbury Campus is equipped with modern resources that will support you to achieve positive outcomes and to achieve the programme qualification.
This course is the perfect stepping stone to further education and enables progression into further vocational courses, traineeships or an apprenticeship. In the final term you will have an opportunity to study towards a Level 2 course that will further enable your progression to a higher-level course.
