This gym instructor course is for you if you want to work in the fitness industry or progress to becoming a personal trainer. This qualification will develop your ability to work with clients to meet their fitness goals, safely and effectively.
Units include:
- anatomy and physiology for exercise
 - health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
 - principles of exercise, fitness and health
 - know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
 - planning and instructing gym-based exercise.
 
You will develop interpersonal, written and practical delivery skills as well as having time to develop your own physique in order to be ready to work in the industry. This qualification is desired by the fitness industry and once completed, will lead into the L3 Personal Training qualification.
To complete this part time evening course, you must be 19+ and hold a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language.
The course will start around 5pm and will take place once a week for 6-10 weeks.
Assessments will comprise 60% personal investigation and 40% externally set practical exam. Your coursework is internally assessed and externally moderated.
On completion of this course, you are qualified to run group exercise classes and find employment in a gym. You can also progress to the Level 3 in Personal Training and work towards becoming a personal trainer.
