This course is for individuals who want, or need, to become MOT testers.
Units may include:
- safe working practices in the vehicle test centre
- working relationships with the vehicle test centre
- manage own professional development as an MOT tester
- carry out pre-test checks for statutory periodic roadworthiness test
- carry out a statutory periodic roadworthiness test.
To successfully gain your qualification, you will take an online test and a practical assessment.
To be eligible to undertake this qualification a potential student must:
- have a current and full UK driving licence for the vehicle classes they want to test
- have at least four years full-time employment in the service and repair of the vehicle types to be tested. (Apprentices who have been employed for four years are eligible.)
- have no unspent convictions for criminal offences connected with the MOT testing scheme or the motor trade, or involving acts of violence or intimidation
- be of good repute
- and to become a nominated tester (NM) for class 3, 4, 5 or 7 vehicles they must have an appropriate qualification
- an automotive Level 3 qualification.
Students will need a 100% attendance rate to achieve the qualification. This course will be held Mondays, 8.30am-5pm, for five weeks.
This course will use a range of assessment methods including one online exam covering the mandatory units and a practical assessment.
You will be able to carry out MOT testing on class 4 and 7.
