This course is equivalent to one A Level, and offers you the opportunity to experience a range of different elements in the sporting world that you could progress to in your future career.
Units include:
- anatomy and physiology
- developing coaching and leadership skills
- sports development
- sport psychology
- nutrition
- planning and leading a sports event.
Your timetable will have practical and theory embedded into it. You will also have access to course-specific trips and opportunities for volunteering and personal enterprise – all excellent experiences to put on a future job application.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English language and maths.
The expectation of your attendance must be above 90%.
You will have a 9.55am start, one lesson in the morning, one in the afternoon and a guaranteed 4.00pm finish. You will also have at least one morning and one afternoon per week free for private study.
You will be assessed through practical and theory based assessments, some will be externally assessed and some internal.
On completion of this course, you can progress to higher education, a degree-level course or an apprenticeship/job in the sporting sector. The course is diverse enough to develop you towards careers in coaching, teaching, sports psychology, sports therapy, sports science or nutrition.
