This course will develop your knowledge and skills in the area of children and young people’s mental health. You will understand the factors affecting mental health and a range of common conditions experienced by children and young people.
Units may include:
- understand the principles of mental health concerns in the context of children and young people
- legislation and best practice relating to children and young people’s mental health
- living with childhood mental health conditions
- understand how to minimise the risk of mental health concerns in children and young people
- understand causes and diagnosis of mental health concerns in children and young people.
Students are expected to have at least a Level 1 qualification in English, which will be assessed before starting the course.
This qualification is online only so you can study it at your own pace in your own workspace.
This is a distance learning course, with 106 guided hours. Assessment must meet the requirements of the identified assessment strategy/principles. All learning outcomes must be met to achieve a pass.
After successfully finishing this course, you could go on to study:
- Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health Care
- Level 3 Award in the Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce.
