Our full-time ESOL courses are designed specifically for adults whose first language is not English. If you are at least 19 years old and living permanently in the UK, this course is the perfect opportunity to improve your English language skills and prepare for future training or employment.
We offer a range of levels to suit your current abilities, from Starter and Beginner, through Elementary and Pre-Intermediate, up to Intermediate and Upper Intermediate. Depending on your level, you will develop essential skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
At higher levels, you will explore grammar and vocabulary, practice writing skills, learn how to complete application forms, and build useful language for everyday life beyond the classroom.
In addition to English, all full-time ESOL students study Functional Skills Maths tailored to their level, with the chance to achieve an Edexcel Functional Skills Maths qualification by the end of the course.
You will also have the opportunity to improve your IT skills, giving you valuable tools for work or further study.
Once you apply, we will assess your current English level to ensure you are placed in the class that best fits your needs.
You do not need any prior qualifications to enrol in our ESOL programme. Before you start, you will take an initial assessment during your interview to determine your current English level and ensure you join the class that’s right for you.
Typically, our full-time ESOL courses involve one class per day, five days a week, available in either morning or afternoon sessions.
Classes are kept small to ensure personal attention, with an average size of 14 students and a maximum of 18.
Full attendance at classes, events, and visits is expected to help you get the most out of your learning experience.
To support your learning, you will complete assessments at the end of every unit. Additionally, there will be final exams in speaking and listening, reading, and writing at the end of the academic year. These assessments help track your progress and ensure you are developing the skills you need to succeed.
As you advance through the ESOL levels, you will have the opportunity to earn recognized Ascentis ESOL qualifications. In addition, you can achieve Functional Skills Maths qualifications to support your personal and professional development.
