Spanish for Beginners at City of Portsmouth College will introduce you to basic grammatical forms and essential frequent vocabulary, in a range of topic areas alongside the basic structure of Spanish.
The course will begin by focusing on how to use the verbs ‘ser’, ‘estar’ and ‘tener’ to construct sentences, that will help you interact with native speakers.
You will have plenty of opportunities to practice communicating in Spanish on daily topics, including the alphabet and sounds, numbers, how to introduce yourself, countries and nationalities, professions, family members and ordering food and drink.
After completing this course, you should have an understanding of common vocabulary and structures useful for basic dialogues in Spanish.
This course is for those with no Spanish or very little knowledge (up to 50 words).
This course is scheduled for two hours per week, Mondays, 6-8pm (term time only). You will be expected to attend all of your timetabled sessions on time, unless prior arrangement has been made and agreed with your tutor.
If you arrive more than 10 minutes late for class, you may be asked to leave. If you are absent for three consecutive weeks without notice, you will automatically be withdrawn from the course.
While you will not receive a formal qualification, this fun and informative course will help expand and practice your skills in Spanish.
You could progress on to Spanish Language for Improvers.
